Dear Lorelei,
A few notes from the road — I've been spending a long series of days crisscrossing the country trying to do what I can to back candidates and ballot measures that offer some hope of coping with our climate crisis.
With just a few days left till the midterm elections, that's meant California, Washington, Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Nebraska, and Massachusetts -- and this last weekend will be key for many races around the country.
Which is why I hope you'll help the effort. Everywhere I go I find two things: people eager to make a difference and oil companies determined to drown our voices in a tide of oil money. In Colorado, for instance, news reports show the oil companies outspending activists 40-1.
This pattern is playing out around the country, which is why I hope you'll continue your activism and kick in to help even the odds nationwide. Will you make a gift to help elect climate champions up and down the ballot next week?

Elections are not the only politics that matter — as you know, we engage day in and day out in the nitty gritty work of pushing for change. But in even-numbered autumns, we have enormous leverage at the ballot box, and we need to use it.
A number of these races are close. Including those that will decide the fate of large fossil fuel projects, like Keystone XL.
With thanks,
Bill
P.S. Want to volunteer this last weekend? Here's how you can do that.
