All we want for the holidays is safe, carbon-free transit!

Lorelei --

Can you take a moment to send an email in support of the Seattle Basic Bike Network?

Transportation represents almost half of Seattle's greenhouse gas emissions. Electric cars are still beyond the reach of most people, and private vehicles use up a lot of precious city space. To have a healthy, low-carbon city, we need access to safe and ubiquitous bus service, walking, and cycling.

When cities provide safe and connected infrastructure, the number of bike trips skyrockets. But pressure by parking advocates might be about to cause our Mayor to cancel part of our planned Basic Bike Network, removing a critical link between neighborhoods and threatening the city's progress toward its climate goals. We are told that the Mayor has received a lot of pro-parking emails, and we know from experience that constituent voices matter in these decisions.

Can you take a moment to balance the scales in favor of making the city safer for bikes?

For more information, see this great letter from Sierra Club, as well as our earlier letter to the Mayor.

In solidarity,

Meg, Sarah, Alice, Andrew and the rest of the Transportation Team
