Lorelei --
I was recently elected to 350 Seattle's board of directors. For years, I read about climate change, but I became involved in climate justice fairly recently, when I realized that we as a society can no longer expect that our elected leaders will treat this issue like the crisis it is. As a result, I've been thinking a great deal about hope, and what we can do to imagine the world in which we want to live. On some level, I'd also been looking for a community: a group of people whose values were similar to mine and who weren't afraid to take action in all sorts of ways to live those values. I've found that community in 350 Seattle. We have an amazing group of people from all walks of life who are engaged in this fight. Some of them have radically rearranged their priorities and sacrificed financial stability to become more involved with 350 Seattle, but they can't do this alone. This work takes a great deal of organizing, resources, and logistical support. And that's where we all come in. We are spending the next few weeks trying to raise $6000 more for our work — the remainder of our original goal of $20,000, all of which is being matched by an anonymous donor. I'm asking you to donate an amount that is meaningful to you.
In hope, Rachel PS Don't forget — if you're ready to leave the big banks behind and go with a community-supporting credit union, some 350 Seattle members are offering their $100 referral credits as a donation to us ― if you can switch to a local credit union before 12/31, fill out this form to learn which ones will mean donations to 350 Seattle and incentives for you. |
