The only holiday gift I want...is a less evil bank

350Seattle.org

Lorelei --

What will it take for JPMorgan Chase to stop funding TransCanada? For years, TransCanada has fought tooth-and-nail to build the Keystone XL pipeline, against the wishes of courts, tribes, climate scientists, and local farmers. Now they're also trying to force a huge new LNG pipeline through the unceded territory of the Unis'to'ten — without consent or permission.

JPMorgan Chase is the largest funder of TransCanada in the United States. Later this month, the bank will almost certainly renew a massive $1.5 billion loan to that planet-wrecking, human rights-abusing corporation ― money that TransCanada needs to build its new pipelines.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: funding climate disaster will not be tolerated. To make sure they get this message, we'll be hosting a major action at Chase...very soon.

Are you a JPMorgan Chase customer who is willing to lodge an official complaint about Chase's investment practices ― or close your account altogether?

Our nationally coordinated campaign against Chase is heating up. As Bloomberg recently reported, Jamie Dimon can hardly take to a stage any more without people confronting him about his bank's role in the climate crisis.

Are you a JPMorgan Chase customer who would be willing to lodge a complaint or close your account in protest of their funding of climate disaster? As a Chase customer, you have special leverage. In addition, this month, we have a special reason to encourage all Chase customers ― and customers of other climate-wrecking Wall Street banks ― to close their accounts.

We are fortunate to live in a city with many fine credit unions, including some that offer cash incentives (to both newcomers and the friends that referred them) to open accounts. Some 350 Seattle members are offering their $100 referral credits as a donation to us ― so if you can switch to a local credit union before 12/31, fill out this form to learn which ones will mean donations to 350 Seattle and incentives for you.

We will be sharing more about our planned action soon, but, in the meantime, if you are a Chase customer and have any interest in helping us deliver our message to Chase, please do fill out this form.

In solidarity,
Alec and the #ShutDownChase Team

PS We still need to get $6k in donations before December 31st in order to meet the full $20K match offered to us generously (and anonymously). Can you help support our bold climate work?
