Words We've Learned This Year, Part 1

View this email in your browser

In the pod last week, we challenged you to join your listener friends and meet a special goal before the end of the year. We need 1,000 of you to donate and become members of On the Media to go into the new year fully funded and ready for action.

1,000 is ambitious, but it's entirely within reach -  in fact, we could hit that number today if everybody reading this took a minute to give right now. So, if you learned something from On the Media, if you rely on us week after week, then let us know. Help us reach this goal by December 31st.

Donate today.

Ahoy, inboxes!

Here at the gilded offices of the On the Media squad, we like our words — we like 'em precise, and we like 'em surprising. It isn't rare that you'll see one of us jumping up from a desk, knocking over book stacks and piles of peanut bar wrappers in our rush to consult the mammoth dictionary that sits between our life-sized limited-edition Wolf Blitzer Beanie Babie and our printer. Words = good.

We learned a lot of new vocab this year — and we'll admit that we may have let a bit of it slip out of our leaky brains. We wanted to make sure that we're all on the same page as we head into the next 52 weeks of chaos, so here are a few flashcards — yes, flashcards — of just some of the best new terms we encountered in 2018. (If you're dead-set on extra credit, you can click through the flashcards to listen to the original interviews!)

Let's get to it.
Thanks for listening, and for reading. We love feedback, so please contact us with any questions or comments. We're busy, but we read them all, promise.
