Lorelei,
This month, King County has the chance to take a major step towards a Fossil Free world—but to do it, it's going to take all of us.
King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove is about to introduce an ordinance prohibiting all new, major fossil fuel infrastructure projects like major pipeline expansions and new oil terminals. To ensure that it passes, we need to generate as many calls as possible to King County Council Members.
By proactively prohibiting new fossil fuel infrastructure, we can keep our communities safe from toxic air, water and climate pollution, and ensure that King County is the next community along the West Coast to prohibit the expansion of dangerous fossil fuel infrastructure.
This initiative will protect our community and climate for generations to come. But we have to stay vigilant and make sure our Council Members understand just how badly the people want this. Every phone call makes a difference.
Can you take a few minutes today to call Council Chair Dembowski and ask him to vote yes on the #FossilFreeKC ordinance?
If the King County Council passes this ordinance, it will be one of the strongest pieces of anti-fossil fuel legislation ever passed in the United States. By leading the way, we can start a chain reaction of similar measures in cities and counties across the country and transition to the 100% renewable energy we need.
Can you help us by calling Council Chair Dembowski today?
In solidarity,
Alec Connon - 350 Seattle
P.S. Keep the momentum building - sign and share our petition to King County leaders calling for no new fossil fuel infrastructure!
