Real climate leadership for Kent

The first week of February, we're calling for a week of action to demand the real climate leadership we need. Can you step up and take action?

Lorelei,

It's the 33rd day of Trump's government shutdown. While Trump is holding our democracy hostage over his racist, unpopular border wall, he's making government employees work without pay on what's most important to his fossil-fueled administration: giving big polluters permits to drill for oil and gas on our public lands.

Trump is protecting fossil fuel billionaires' profits while using millions of regular people as political pawns. It's infuriating. One clear lesson from this corrupt shutdown: we need real leadership that puts our communities and the climate over bigots and big polluters.

The first week of February, we're calling for a week of action to demand the real climate leadership we need. Can you step up in Kent?

Even for the Trump era, this is a bleak moment — but still, there's reason for hope: outside of the White House, there is serious momentum for a Green New Deal and the real climate leadership people and the planet need.

The grassroots — people like you — are the engines of that momentum. Last week, more than 100 people came together in Washington, DC on short notice to drop a banner with a clear message for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and all our elected leaders: we need a climate plan — before we run out of time to act.

Now, with so much at stake, it's up to you to keep that pressure up. And here's our plan: The week of February 4-8, we're going to deliver hundreds of thousands of your petition signatures to key members of Congress to demand they embrace a Green New Deal to take on big polluters and ensure a just transition to a 100% renewable energy economy where all of us can thrive.

But first, we need people like you to step up and lead local actions. Can we count on you to call for real climate leadership in Kent at this critical moment?

Thanks for stepping up,

John Qua

PS: If you're interested in leading an action to demand your members of Congress step up for climate justice and embrace a Green New Deal but need some support to get started, don't worry — hosting an event can feel intimidating, but our organizers are here to support you every step of the way. Sign up here to join a training call next Monday, January 28 at 8pm EST.
