Lorelei,
Right now, thousands of young people are taking action in DC and across the country to call on Congress to support a Green New Deal. It's truly incredible: there are more than 1,000 people on Capitol Hill right now. This is what real momentum looks like.
We have the power to make a Green New Deal a reality — we just need a critical mass of Congresspeople to support it.
That's where you come in. With young people taking action at Congressional offices around the country, our elected leaders are paying close attention.
Young folks led by our friends at Sunrise Movement are taking action in DC to demand a Green New Deal right now.
Just two months ago, the political media was warning that climate change was unlikely to be a big part of Congress's agenda next year. But now, 22 Representatives — and counting — have announced their support for a sweeping policy program to transform our economy to fight the climate crisis and help all of us thrive.
People power — you — made that shift happen. Now, let's keep this momentum up.
After today's actions, I can't wait to keep the pressure up in the New Year: we're hatching big plans for January to show just how massive and energized this movement for real climate leadership is. You'll be among the first to know where to sign up.
Here's the bottom line: a Green New Deal is the only policy solution on the table that's bold enough to address the scale of the climate crisis on the narrow timeline science shows we have remaining.
To make it happen, we still have a big fight ahead. But with big plans ahead and so much power on our side, I believe more than ever it's a fight we're going to win.
Onward,
Katie
