Lorelei,
Next week, the King County Council will see the introduction of a historic ordinance prohibiting new, major fossil fuel infrastructure projects like gas pipeline expansions and new oil terminals.
This is a huge step in the fight for a Fossil Free King County and a healthy climate future for all. But we have to stay vigilant and make sure it passes by showing our Council Members just how badly the people want this.
If passed, the #FossilFreeKC ordinance would be one of the strongest pieces of anti-fossil fuel legislation in our nation's history. We wouldn't just be proactively safeguarding our communities from dirty fossil fuel projects—we'd also raise the bar on real climate leadership and put pressure on policymakers across Washington and the US to follow suit.
King County's led the way on climate action before, and we can do it again. But the only way for that to happen is for all of us to raise our voices for change. That's why we need you.
Write King County Council today and tell them to support the #FossilFreeKC ordinance.
In solidarity,
Jess Wallach
