WA legislature opens today: make your voice heard on climate!

350Seattle.org

Lorelei --

Today is the start of the 2019 legislative session. With Democratic majorities in the state House and Senate and many climate-aware new legislators, we hope that Washington will finally pass meaningful climate legislation.

We'll be tracking a host of bills that would reduce climate pollution in our electricity grid, buildings, and transportation sector, as well as reducing super pollutants such as HFCs.

But even with the Democrats in charge we know that we are going to have to fight hard to make sure these bills pass ― the Dems controlled the legislature last year too, and they didn't pass a single climate bill.

It is essential that we call our legislators throughout the session to advocate for climate-friendly bills. Together, our voices are mighty.

To amplify your voice this session, we'll be:

  1. Sending out a weekly email to our Civic Action Team!

These emails will update you on what key climate bills are moving, and who the key players are to call and email. We'll provide you with legislator phone numbers and talking points in a single concise weekly email. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call them!

  2. Sending out a weekly text alert!

We'll let you know by text whom to call and when. If required, we will be able to share with you talking points and legislator phone numbers via text.

Please sign up to receive our weekly Civic Action Team updates!

We know that many of our state legislators still don't hear anywhere near enough from their constituents about climate change. Together, we can change that!

In solidarity,
David, Selden, Alec and the Civic Action Team

PS: Planning ahead? Sign up for Lobby Day in Olympia, Tuesday January 29th.
